Hiding place of the bandit Antoine Victor MORNAC
|During the years 1990-2000, a beaunois (inhabitant of Chatrat), Mr Marcel FAURE, historian amateur at his hours, was interested of close at the history of Mornac and being moved in Laqueuille in order to collect information and testimonys, photographed the small considered cavities as having benn used as hiding-place for Mornac when he hid him-self. They are in the north of Laqueuille. One sees over the second, on the right of the image, the bell-tower of the church of Laqueuille, sign of immediate proximity of the village and proof that Mornac was sufficiently smelled protected by fear that inspired to the inhabitants.|
Reproduced with the pleasant autorisation of Mr Marcel FAURE.
of Mr Marcel FAURE has been also retained by an article of the daily
newspaper regional LA MONTAGNE, appeared Thursday August4, 1994, reporting work
of Mrs Gabrielle BAYLE-ILPIDE which found the history of Mornac so exciting,
that she made a diaporama of it. This one was presented on August 5, 1994 at the Foyer rural of Laqueuille
as well as the 25 in the village hall of Rochefort-Montagne. Let us guarantee that it had to collect a lot of success
at this time. It was followed by a traditionnal evening to discuss about the life of the character.
FAURE also noted an interesting article published in the same
daily newspaper on July 20, 1995
relating to works of David CHAUCH, cartoonist who transcribed in comics strips the life of the pope
URBAIN II and also the one of Antoine Victor MORNAC.
