History of the bandit Antoine Victor MORNAC

Postcard catch about 1900 of the famous inn of the place called "Mort-Raynaud".

Enlarged view

One can decipher on the left of the sign : "ONDET", the name of the owners in 1849.
The woman is perhaps the girl of landlords ONDET.

Extract of the work of Doctor Pierre Balme, MORNAC la terreur des montagnes d'Auvergne
Procès criminels 1826-1852, revue l'Auvergne littéraire n°108, 1944, page 13 :

"In these times, the inn, which always exists,
was known as "of the woods"
and was held by named Ondet Antoine,
known as "le parisien",
45 years old, married to Marguerite Bougnol,
who was forty-four old,
they had with them their daughter,
then 16 years old."
