| The commune of
Saint-Genès-Champanelle fromits position to the center of
France, in full center of Auvergne and its membership at the
Regional Natural Reserve of the volcanos of Auvergne, has the
privilege to be a high crossing point appreciate by
the hikers with foot and mountain bike, like horse. Nethertheless, for more than 20 years, in the sight of the safeguarding of the known as ways and the crossed natural sites, these ways have been prohibited to the motor vehicules (4x4, motor bikes...). Several ways of great excursion (GR) crosses the commune of north to the south and of east to the west :
Five footpaths of small excursion (PR), were arranged on the commune. The first, that of the throats of Ceyrat crosses the village of Berzet. It is announced by marks of blue painting. It lasts approximately an hour. The departure is at the southern of Ceyrat, on the old road RN89. This walk is very pleasant the summer because it makes possible to benefit from the freshness of the brook running in the throats and the shade of wood crossed. The second, begin in Nadaillat and make the turn of the volcano "la Vigeral" in the west of Nadaillat. The departure is located towards the cross of Saint-Roch in the top of the village. The beaconing is also indicated in blue. The course is a little longer and borders the 2 hours. This route makes it possible to have a superb view on the Monts Dômes and the Monts Dore as well the lake of Casssière. The attentive walker will be abble to see shelters of dry stone shepherd. The third fact a loop around the village of Chatrat. One will find the departure close the cemetery of Saint-Genès Borough. Association CHAMINA entitled "At the country of the ashes". it is marked in yellow. The fourth fact a loop around the puy de la Vache. The fifth fact a loop aaround the puy de Mercoeur, the departure is in Laschamps.
