Two lists were once again in competition, one directed by the outgoing mayor Roger Gardes and the other by Marie-Claude Caminada, already competitors in 1995.

Roger Gardes took the bet be likely to renew of a blow half of his list but, in spite of this difficulty, he profited for the premium granted to the outgoing mayor and suceeded in great improving his results compared to 1995, in 7 out of 8 of the polling stations. The variation in 1995 between the 2 lists was 33% and it increased until reaching 39,3% is +6,3%. Nevertheless, in 3 offices, the list of Roger Gardes did not reach the treshold of the 50% of the registered voters (Saint-Genès, Laschamps and Berzet).

Only difficulty, the village of Berzet seemed to show the most reserves to point out Roger Gardes in his functions of mayor by granting but 38,87 % of the voices to him compared to the registered voters of the village and by putting overhanging one as of his three candidates who was the only one to be exceeded by candidates of the Caminada list, which occured in none of the othe villages.

Let us recall that in 1995, none the candidates of Roger Gardes had been exceeded by a un member the Caminada list.

The conditions of the last modification of the POS (Plan d'Occupation des Sols), the sale sectionnaux in Berzet and the choice of the establishment of the dechetery are perhaps not foreign at this berzetoise reaction.

The number of inhabitants of the commune crossed the treshold of 2500 inhabitants at the time of the last census, whereas it was necessary to draw up lists of 19 candidates in 1995, the number passed to 23 candidates in 2001 from where additional difficulty todraw up a complete list, obligatory condition for its homologation by the prefecture.

In 1995, the abstention had been 16,4% whereas on March 11 it amonuted to 20,3%, that is to say 3,9% of more. the inhabitants having undoubtedly anticipated the re-election of Roger Gardes.

The village of Nadaillat, although having given the best percentage of voice on the all polling stations, nevertheless placed Roger Gardes in last position of his list.

Beaune le chaud knew the strongest rate of participation (93,9%), Berzet taking the last place (71,7%).
