Upon his retirement in 1963, Mr. Léon BOYER,
then a teacher in Laschamps, donated his
printing press to Mr. André BUTEZ, an innovative
teaching tool at the time, inspired by the teaching
methods of Célestin Freinet.
In December 1964, the students of the school
in the village of Saint-Genès-Champanelle published
the first issue of a school newspaper :
L'ÉCHO des VOLCANS
of which here is the summary :

This first issue will be followed
by 5 to 6 others according to Mr. André BUTEZ.

Mr. Léon BOYER continued to actively
participate in community life by assuming
the role of
town hall secretary after
Mr. André BUTEZ left for a school
in Clermont-Ferrand in 1968.
